In many applications, it is critical that the screw thread does not rotate to any degree. Anti-rotation can be achieved by replacing the standard round protective tube with a square profile instead. A square nut is then fitted to the end of the screw which slides within the square profile but cannot rotate due to its shape and thus prevents the screw from rotating during operation.
